Valdés caught out as Standard slump to defeat

Spanish goalkeeper Víctor Valdés conceded his first goals in the Belgian Pro League as his new club, Standard Liège, were upset at home by Sint-Truidense.
After a clean sheet on his debut in a victory away to Leuven last week, Valdés was beaten once in a draw in the cup midweek and conceded twice this time round as his side let slip a lead to go away empty-handed.
Standard went in front in the 21st minute through Edmilson Junior's tap-in, but were pegged back just before half-time, with Valdés partly culpable. After the former Barça goalie failed to connect properly with an attempted punch from a corner, the ball landed at the back post, where Yvan Erichot fired in a shot. His effort was cleared off the line by a defender, but the clearance smashed off the face of German forward Nick Proschwitz and into the net. As they say, they all count...
Proschwitz it was who got the winner and he must not have been able to believe his luck. The 29-year-old sealed a comeback triumph for the visitors by rifling home when the ball broke to him with the goal gaping, following what looked like a misunderstanding between Valdés and his defence.
The defeat leaves Standard languishing several points adrift of the qualifying positions for the Championship playoffs with five rounds of fixtures to go.
