A Seat at the Table: Kurds Could Participate in Syrian Peace Talks

There is a great probability that Syrian Kurds will take part in the next round of Geneva peace talks on Syria’s reconciliation, Syrian opposition figure Qadri Jamil said Wednesday, Sputnik reported.
"Yesterday there was a clash between the Americans and the Turks about the Kurds, so I think there is a big chance [of their participation]. If we wish success for the negotiations in Geneva, the Kurds, represented by PYD [the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union], is the main component today," Jamil told reporters.
Syria has been mired in anti-terrorism war since 2011, when fighting started between the country’s government and multiple extremist and terrorist groups.
The main Syrian Kurdish party was not invited to the UN-backed reconciliation talks between Damascus and the Syrian opposition in Geneva that started on January 29 and were later postponed until February 25.
