Russian Multilevel Reconnaissance System Averts Civilian Risks in Syria

The Russian military has created a multilevel system of reconnaissance in Syria together with its partners to decrease possible risks to civilians, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Maj.-Gen. Igor Konashenkov said Thursday, Sputnik reported.
“The Russian Armed Forces, together with their partners, have created a multilevel system of reconnaissance that provides for the accurate exposure of targets. Only after multiple checks of information received and the exclusion of the risk that civilians are present, airstrikes are carried out against these targets,” Konashenkov told journalists.
Syria has been mired in war on terrorism since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting a number of extremist and terrorist groups, such as ISIL, which is banned in almost every country, but Saudi Arabia.
Russia has been launching airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad since late September 2015. A US-led international coalition has been launching airstrikes against ISIL in Syria since September 2014, without the approval of Damascus or the United Nations.
