Iraq Disbands ISIL Terrorist Cell in Erbil
An ISIL terrorist cell that was preparing to carry
out explosions and other acts of sabotage in Iraq has been dismantled,
the statement said.
It noted that the cell had three members who were
from Diyala province and were armed with weapons, explosives and suicide
belts.
The Iraqi security forces had also earlier disbanded another terrorist cell and seized 18 bombs from them.
In a relevant development in late January, two
self-declared governors of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group were killed
in separate incidents in Iraq.
Mohammad al-Vaziri, the self-proclaimed governor
of the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, was killed in a joint aerial
operation by the Iraqi Air Force and the US-led coalition purportedly
fighting ISIL. Over 30 other members of ISIL were also killed in the
raid.
The report said another ISIL ‘governor,’ known as
Abu Hamzah, was killed along with five other terrorists during
infighting in Iraq’s western province of Anbar.
